VA Geriatric Scholars Rehabilitation Training Program

The Geriatric Scholars Program is a workforce development initiative designed to integrate geriatrics into VA primary care settings to improve care for older Veterans. This program provides an intensive course in geriatrics, hands-on workshops on quality improvement, and encourages Scholars to initiate local projects to enhance care or clinic efficiency. Through this longitudinal program, participants are equipped with the knowledge and skills to become "ambassadors of change," making a direct impact on their clinical environments. Additional educational opportunities are available for alumni, including clinical practicum experiences, webinars, and web-based learning modules. These resources are aimed at strengthening the geriatrics workforce, enhancing the quality of care for older Veterans, and improving access to education and training in geriatrics.
